These
change banks were created for The West Chester University Alumni
Association at Brandywine Woodworks. We were commissioned by the
university to build banks for the salvaged mailbox fronts form one of
the dormitories scheduled for
demolition. The boxes are crafted from cherry that was salvaged from
the Brandywine Valley where West Chester University is located. Traditional box joints were hand cut giving the bank a strong vaulted
appearance. I was able to remove the tumblers from the mailbox doors,
giving each unit a simple one letter combination. A hand rubbed oil
finish was applied to beautify and protect these truly unique pieces.
